WOA. Its our busy season at Eventions. and its busier than ever. Like the other day the shop was basically empty because of all the events we had. We’ve had to rent trucks and gear just to handle it all. ITS CRAZY. Since i passed the managers training and am one of about ten managers I am working ALOT. like 5 days a week. and not 8 hour days like boring people. 10, 12, 15+ hour days. It is crazy. I am making alot of money and saving up for the big move to LA, so its worth it.

New York!!!! Radio!!!!! Movin’ UP!!!!!!!
So I was in New York the other day checking out Heard City. It was Awesome! I talk to the managing directer and was given a tour of the place. It was such a chill, relaxing, cool atmosphere. Hung out with the assistant engineers and saw what they did. It was mainly commercials but some feature length films. the people were really cool too. She took my resume and is going to ask around for jobs for me. So it looks like a job in NYC may be on the horizon. I also talked to a guy from another studio. he gave me a little insight into how he got where he is. It was all really cool. My cousin who arranged all of this for me is still out there looking for work for me too. I got a few more websites to go to and am looking more and more.
I’m finishing up the script for the “radio show” I’m working on. Its just a personal project I’m doing. Its an audio drama, like an old time radio show. I got a few friends who want to do the voices. Can’t wait to finish it and get it out there. I think it’s gonna be good and really help add to my portfolio.
I start training this week for the Event Manager position. It’s gonna be more work, more responsibility, and money. So hopefully i pass training and can work there more! Did a ton of shows lately with them. The other day we did a show at Bryn Mawr, it was a good show, the bands were pretty good. I also am looking to get a job at a theater opening up in the summer. So fingers crossed.
I’ll see ya’s next time

Informational Interviews
Have two lined up with some production people in New York. Hopefully they go well and I get some advice and help finding work. In the mean time I have two projects I’m working on in my spare time to add to my portfolio. I’ll be sure to post them here when I finish.

Learning…
So, last i posted was before heading to New York for a gig. That was a looooong two days. It was a 12+ hour day and then 20+ hour day. Crazy. Eventions is rolling out some training sessions that I’ll be apart of. Soon I’ll be able to do video and lighting as well as sound.
Other than Eventions I’ve been applying to a bunch of jobs all over the country. So fingers crossed.
See ya,
John
Busy Week Next Week!
I got like 5 days work with Eventions! Including a 3day trip to New York! Also, I’m thinking about doing more with this blog. Rather than just a self-promotion, weekly review of what I’m doing I may start reviewing albums/songs and posting articles and my thoughts on the music/audio industry? Just something I’m thinking about.
2014
Ended 2013 working a show and started 2014 working a show. Hopefully I stay busy this year. Happy New Year Everyone!
Somethings…..
So, I’ve been thinking about work. As I am still not employed full-time as an audio engineer I am constantly looking. I’ve been thinking about maybe doing some podcast work. Or maybe doing audio for an indie film maker, possible a start-up, like short videos online or something. Basically something small, on a budget, and start-up. It can grow into something bigger. Hopefully with someone(s) like me, have day job but willing to put the work in a personal project until it makes money. So, with all that being said, does anyone have ideas of people or projects to work with/on? Lemme know.
Music
So, I;m trying to expand my musical tastes. I’ve recently gotten really into twenty one pilots. They’re really awesome. So, I’m now spending some time on Pandora, trying to discover some new stuff. Any recommendations to bands, genres, or pandora stations?
